3 days only.. OK?

Selamat Hari Raya!! So, you are going back to your home town? Gathering with your family and loved one. But who is looking after your fur-babies? Although some cats travel well, most really don't enjoy traveling. If you're going to be gone only a day or two and your cat free feeds and has no special care needs, you might be able to leave him alone with plenty of food, water, and litter. But if you'll be gone longer or if your cat needs medication or can't free feed, you'll need to make other arrangements.
Whether you choose to board him or hire a pet-sitter to come in, make reservations as much ahead of time as possible.
Many Petshop accept cats, and many vets offer boarding for client's pets. If your cat requires special care due to medical problems, consider boarding your cat at the vet's when you travel. Good boarding petshop can handle most routine support for cats with special needs. Consider your cat's overall comfort, the quality of care and attention he'll receive, and how long he'll be boarded. Some cats find the atmosphere of a veterinary facility very stressful, so a boarding petshop that accepts or specializes in cats might be better!

Ask your family, friends, and veterinarian for good boarding facility recommendations. Before you make a reservation, ask for a tour. The facilities should be clean and reasonably free of odors. Cats should be boarded separately and should have no physical contact with their neighbors. It is a prevention step for any disease. Find out who will handle your cat and who else will have access to him. Be particular! Its for your own good. Feel free? you may try this link : http://www.petknode.com.my/

Chika and Choco prefer to stay at home, so I found that a pet-sitter is a better choice than other boarding facility. You should consider this option. Usually the sitter visits the home a specified number of times each day, although some can be hired to stay full-time, sitting not just your cat but also your home, plants, newspapers, and mail. To find a qualified pet-sitter, ask your veterinarian and friends for recommendations. Or maybe your friend can offer helps! :P
It's essential that you feel good about the sitter you hire, for your cat's well-being and your own peace of mind. Selamat Hari Raya!! Drive safe and Enjoy your holiday!!

Zaaaaaassssssss!!!! Meow~

Well.. early this month I sent my only dear boy Chika, to be neutered. So we received many mails and phone calls asking about the procedure. Then its a good things to write-in my experience and share some tips and advice. As you know Chika was born with one undescended testicle or monorchid in medical term. What happened was, only one testicle came out and the other one was up in his abdomen. It could be cancerous if we don’t get it removed. So I have decided to get him fixed. I checked with few vets since Chika case is kinda critical and surveyed on the package and price until I found out about Klinik Kembiri. Actually I do know about Klinik Kembiri and I trusted their services since I sent my fren’s cat there few times before but I thought that they wont accept critical case like Chika's. But it turned out they were happy to accept Chika's case.

Coincidently, my close-friend Shirley also wanted to neuter her male cat. So I book an appointment at the clinic for her cat and mine together. So the night before the procedure, I fed Chika with his favourite meal and put him in fast after 9 pm prior to the procedure. At night, Chika slept with us. He don’t play much . The next day I took out his carrier and put on my coffee table and open its door. Suprisingly, Chika just come in the carrier and laid quietly. Somehow he knew we will bring him somewhere. In the car we let Chika out of his carrier. Usually, this is when he will meowed out loud. But this time he just busy with his discovery mission as usual. Sniffing around like no tomorrow.
I met Shirley with his male cat at Tesco Ampang. We drove together to Setapak to Klinik Kembiri which is just only 20 minutes drive. We reached Klinik Kembiri around 9:40am and get ourselves registered at security registration and went in to the clinic. There were few cats in the separated carrier already numbered. We waited in the office until Dr Krishnan came in. There was a form to be filled and signed. Some questions to be answered and explanations to be understood. After everything was cleared and agreed, we handed our cats to Dr Krishnan. Chika remained silent. Maybe he got annoyed with the noise from other cats. Chika was numbered. His lucky number was 11. We're set to go as Dr Krishnan will call us upon the compeltion of the operation.
While waiting for Chika, I went to the PC Fair at KLCC. Well around 1pm we received a phone call from Klinik Kembiri telling us that Chika was fixed. What a relief, and we're dying to see him. We got back at Klinik Kembiri and Chika was high on anesthetic!! Hahahahaa.. poor thing. He tried to greet us but he was too week. The vet advised me on his condition and gave some advise on the post-sugery care. Our cost of operation was RM150.00 since Chika have a unique case of neuter. We brought Chika and Shirley’s cat home since Shirley have a pet grooming class. Guys, if you're planning to send your cat there, appreciate if you can pick your cat before 4pm~ It's weekend and the vet need rest too hihihihi…

By the time we got home, Shirley’s cat was awake. He only required a normal procedure of neuter and cost only RM50.00!! FYI, all the money will go to the SPCA Charity. And the receipt, you can keep it and use to get your tax exemption as your payment is considered as donation!! I kept Shirley’s cat in my study room and put some food and a bowl of water and also a litter box. From time to time we check on him. He started sniffing around like a normal cat and kept himself rested in the room while waiting for Shirley to pick him up. At around 5pm Shirley showed up to pick him. Another happy customer.
Chika on other hand was still under sedative. I checked the operation area and surprise that his abdomen have been shaved revealing his wobbly one pack (Maybe the vet is trying to find another ball.) and the cut was clean. I’ve been advised that we must observe our cat everyday for days. This is to ensure the cat is fine and the sedative doesn’t have that much effect on the cat. I applied some gamat gel from House of Healin on the cut. I got this tips form one of PF (Petfinder. Well I’ll let you know what is PetFinder in the next post) and I can see that the wounds get better. Now Chika is like the old chika.. No more spraying, and moody. He turn to be my old Chika.. the kitten version!! He is so lovely and not so territorial like before. I'm relief.
So guys.. All the best!! Go for neuter or spay them if you think you can't handle more than you can!!Errkk.. i mean your cats!!!

Yummy!! Feeding time!!

Do you choose the food for your pet or they choose their food from you? We always want the best for our pets. Be it food, toys, vet, everything. But it's all depending to what one can afford and what your pets loves~

I am so lucky that all my cats are not fussy when it comes to food. They will just eat happily whatever I feed them. Let me tell you about my cat-sitting experience. Miko, an exotic shorthair adult cat of my friends. He is so fussy. He only eat a freshly canned-out kibbles of very specific brand and flavour. He wont eat the leftover kibbles and he eats so little. Thats make him skinny. At first I thought he is stressful but it turns out he' just being a fussy brat~
I feed my monsters with the brand that I trust. When they are first handed to me they were only 6-7 weeks old and only drinks cat's formulated milk until they reach 2.5 months old. When they are able to eat by themself, I feeds them with IAMS kitten. Actually before I feeds with IAMS, I have tried some brands that were suggested by my friends. But I noticed that they were both having diarrhea. Not only after I changed to IAMS, that they turned out fine healthy and happy. They both gained about 40% of body mass when they are around 3 months! Now we mix with Royal Canine Fit 32 and they loving it!
Other than feeding them with kibbles We also treat them sometime with EVO canned food. Its high with protien for muscle development, as supplementaries I'm giving them multi mineral & vitamin paste daily, hairball control paste, as well as supplement for healthy coat. Their favorite: Greenies!!!
Besides all that, I feed them with boiled chicken too! They love it!!! and easy!! Just sliced the chicken meat into a small cube, add water and boil it until it turns white. Serve the chicken meat together with its stock and some bones! they love to lick it!! You can always try red meat too. But if you know about BARF, it will make your life easier and your pets healthier. I will tell you about BARF in the next entry.
Recently, my dear Choco started to eat non stop! I'm planing to change her diet to low protein kibbles or else wise she will turn into an obese cat~
